We’re thrilled to announce our New York City premiere of Space to Breathe, on June 20 as part of Reclamation Day, sponsored by the BLIS (Black Liberation-Indigenous Sovereignty) Collective. Featuring over 40 artists and organizations, Reclamation Day is a grassroots response to the 250th anniversary of the US. Here is the program (our film is part of the 5:30pm film slot). The screening is already sold out, but you can get on the waiting list at that link, and we hope to get everyone in - reach out if you’d like to join us!
Space to Breathe was also featured in a new article on abolition from Truthout. Author Nicholas Powers writes, “seeing Black people in the next century, living in a world we could only dream of, deeply touched us. After it ended, we sat imagining who our children’s children could be.”
We are also thrilled to announce that both Space to Breathe and Cockroach will be screening at the 2026 Rio LGBTQIA+ Film Festival in Brazil.
